“the other year” is an artist’s book composed of pressed plants collected by the artist along her walks and presented as folded posters. The plants included in this book are those she encountered and gathered by hand over the course of a year. For the artist, recording these walks is both an act of mourning for what is slowly disappearing and a quiet greeting to the small lives that remain beside us. The book consists of sixteen folded sheets, printed with pressed plants on hanji and accompanied by the artist’s notes. As the layers of paper unfold, they reveal the traces of lives we might otherwise have passed by without noticing. The book is an essay collection composed of the artist’s daily records of walks and observations. It was published in conjunction with “the other year,”a collection of pressed plants gathered along her walks and presented as a series of folded posters. The book brings together notes the artist wrote during her walks between March 22 and December 14, 2025. Her sentences are both a lament for what is slowly disappearing and a quiet greeting to what remains. We will be participating in the upcoming NY Art Book Fair, which will take place from September 24th to 27th. The fair is an annual gathering of a community centered around books, bringing together the communities of art book publishing.
